Music Snapshot

The Senior Ensembles Rehearsal Camp and Primary School Concert Tour (or Music Camp for short) is a very special and large-scale annual excursion of which I am in charge. The ensembles involved are Choir, Concert Band 1, Scimitar String Orchestra and Senior Guitar Ensemble, and our 2025 Music Camp was held from Sunday 30 March to Tuesday 1 April. We had a record number of 135 students attending, which required three 50-seater coaches, a luggage truck, four Music staff and nine adult supervisors/helpers (mostly parents). The rehearsals took place on Sunday and Monday at Fairbridge Village just north of Pinjarra, then on Tuesday, we came back to Perth for concerts at Booragoon Primary School and Brentwood Primary School. These concerts gave our students an important performance opportunity and are invaluable outreach to our next generation of Music students.  I am indebted to the primary school Principals and Music Specialists for working with me to make our visits run smoothly and successfully. Finally, my sincere thanks go to all our Music students, parents and staff involved who made it a truly special event; the way everyone worked hard, looked after each other, and superbly represented Applecross SHS makes me very proud 😊.
