School Holiday Program

The first day of the holiday care program was super fun and hands-on, especially with the cultural cooking. It was awesome to see the childrens working with Mandira throughout the whole process. They made chicken and vegetable dumplings, plus a vegetarian version, along with sushi and pizza. It was a day full of learning, teamwork, and lots of delicious food to enjoy!
Our Easter Stufflers activity was another big hit with the group. The children loved picking out their own pillow-style plush and getting stuck into stuffing them with fluff. It was such a fun and calming activity, and they really got into it. Once their Stuffler started to take shape, they each added a special little message or shape to go inside; something meaningful to them, which made it feel even more personal. After that, they filled out a birth certificate for their new cuddly friend, giving it a name and marking the occasion. It was a sweet and creative experience that everyone got involved in and really enjoyed.
On the last day of holiday care, our ELC to Year 1 group hopped on the bus and headed to the South Hobart Rivulet to see if we could spot a platypus. While we didn’t manage to find one, the adventure was still full of surprises. The childrens got super excited watching what they called a "rock climbing bear" (which was actually a man climbing the rocks), and they used their imaginations to spot a crocodile, an octopus, and heaps of ants along the way. They had some lunch, played on the cool space-shaped equipment, and spent time exploring the natural surroundings. They moved rocks and sticks, got creative, and even built a pretend fire. It was a great way to finish off the week; with fresh air, fun, and a whole lot of imagination.
