Welcome Back – Term 2 Begins

A warm welcome back to all students and families. We hope you enjoyed a restful and safe Easter break. As we begin Term 2, we’re looking forward to a term full of opportunities for learning, growth and connection. We encourage our students to continue to support each other and represent our school with pride in all that we do.

As part of our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, we remind students of our shared expectations across learning spaces, in our community and digitally. This includes taking pride in wearing the school uniform correctly. All students are required to wear their full school uniform including their blazer to and from school each day. A reminder that unnatural hair colours are not permitted, as outlined in our Uniform Policy. Representing our school with pride means upholding high standards in both presentation and conduct on campus, in the community, and online.

Being Safe and Kind Online

This Friday is Do It For Dolly Day, a national initiative that encourages kindness and shines a spotlight on the importance of preventing bullying and cyberbullying.

Safeguarding a student’s wellbeing also means protecting their digital life.

Today’s young people spend more time than ever online. Social media, online games, and messaging apps are part of daily life for many young people, but they can also expose them to risks such as cyberbullying, digital harassment, and unsafe content. At Mount Carmel College, we are committed to nurturing not only the academic growth of our students, but also their social and emotional wellbeing and safety both offline and online.

As part of our PBS framework we acknowledge the importance of actively teaching these behaviours to our students. As part of this commitment is a focus on cybersafety in our Term 2 Wellbeing program. Students will participate in a session presented by ThinkUKnow, a national cyber safety education program led by the Australian Federal Police. These sessions will empower students with practical strategies to stay safe and kind online, while helping them understand the real-world impacts of their digital choices. Information on these workshops will be sent home to parents closer to the date.

Please do not hesitate to contact your daughter’s Clan Teacher or Head of House should you have any concerns around online safety.
