Languages News - Italian

Ciao a tutti!
It has been smooth start to what will be another busy term. Next week we will welcome our new Language Assistant, Ilaria Gabriele, who comes to us from Rome to work in the classroom assisting both teachers and students. Ilaria will be with us until December. We are very fortunate to have Ilaria working with us as it gives students an opportunity to learn from a native speaker who can brin to the classroom first-hand knowledge and experiences to share with the students, not to mention all the up to date ‘lingo’.
The Italian Language Assistants Program is funded by CO.AS.IT and the Italian Government supporting teachers of Italian. We look forward to her joining our team.
The Dante Alighieri Poetry Recitation Competition will be taking place on Wednesday 25th June. Students of years 9-12 will travel to the University of Melbourne to recite their selected poems.
Year 7s, this week, will be reciting their poem, Mondo Pazzo, in class as a Learning Task. They have been busy rehearsing and memorising the poem which is the Italian equivalent to Hey Diddle Diddle.
Mondo Pazzo (Hey Diddle Diddle)
Mondo pazzo, pazzo mondo,
È successo il finemondo.
Con la mucca sulla luna,
Suona il gatto alla fortuna, Ed il piatto col cucchiaio È fuggito: “Oh, che guaio!”
