From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Term 2.

Since our last newsletter, so much has happened in our community and world that has impacted our catholic school parish community.

The celebration of Holy Week leading out of Lent and into the season of Easter is at the core our of Catholic Faith and so I hope that during this time of Easter celebration, families were able to gather and remember the powerful message that the life, death and resurrection of Jesus has to all Christians around the world.

At this time, we also mourn and celebrate the life of Pope Francis who passed into the eternal life on Easter Monday.  Since Pope Francis' death, there have been reflections and tributes worldwide and all over our media streams spotlighting his humble and grounded leadership of the Catholic Church with a strong focus on the poor and disadvantaged.  As a school, we will continue to remember and pray for Pope Francis whilst also pay attention and pray for the process of selecting a new Pope in the comings days and weeks.

There will be a display of remembrance set up in the school to remind us to keep Pope Francis close in our hearts and minds at this time.

Finally, over the school holidays, we learnt of the sad news that former teacher and student of St Simon's, Daniel Bau, has passed away after a long-term health battle with a respiratory illness. Daniel taught at St Simon's between 2012 to 2019 and left such a positive impact on so many students, families and colleagues. Daniel's funeral will be celebrated at St Simon's Church on Wednesday, 30th April, at 11am.  Daniel was 35.
