Snapshots from the week

Cross Country time at BSHS!

A huge congratulations to all students who participated in this year’s Cross Country! Whether you sprinted, jogged, or walked the track — your effort, determination, and school spirit were outstanding.

Thank you to our staff for supporting the event and cheering on our runners!

Debating time!

Our debaters have jumped straight back into the season this term! Last week we had our Year 9s and 7s. Year 7s were victorious against Churchie, even with a power outage! 9.1 also came out on top versus Mansfield, however 9.2 went down in a well-fought debate against John Paul College.

This week our Year 10s battled it out in a topical debate about lowering the voting age. Unfortunately, neither team got the edge over All Hallows or BSSSC, however both teams showcased impressive arguments.

Our Year 9 Business students hit the Brisbane City Markets for inspiration ahead of their own Market Day in Week 9!

A big shoutout to G Free Donuts for treating every student to a donut 🍩, the fresh juice stall and Der Wurst Man for offering student deals!

💸Plenty of ideas (and snacks) were taken in—watch this space for what they bring to Market Day!

Game day goals! 🏐💥

We headed out to support our Senior and Junior Balmoral girls' netball teams at the CLC Tigers Netball Competition. Plenty of skill, spirit, and school pride was on show—well done to all players!

Year 11 Hospitality

Students are exploring culinary trends and learning that we eat with our eyes first!

Staffing updates

At the start of Term 2, we were pleased to welcome new teachers to our staff:  Ms Astrid Moss (Design and Technology), Ms Sophie McBean (English), Ms Michelle Thornton (replacing Mrs Seib for two weeks) and Ms Megan Dankcert who will join our staff in Week 4.   We have also welcomed ten pre-service teachers.

After a career of 40 years in education, Ms Vanessa Cash has announced that she will retire on Friday, May 16.  Ms Cash has been Deputy Principal at Balmoral SHS for the past fifteen years.
