STAGE 2 NEWS
In English this term the children have started learning about informative texts with our focus being on Australian Bushrangers. The text we are reading to provide us with inspiration for our bushranger research is ‘Ned Kelly and the Green Sash’. Expect a lot of conversations on bushrangers to be occurring around the dinner table this term as all the Stage 2 students are extremely engaged and have a lot of prior knowledge about our famous Australian Bushrangers.
In Maths, the children have been focusing on fractions and decimals. In particular, we have been learning about how to represent decimals and how they link to fractions. The persistence and positive attitude of the students during our lessons has been impressive. What resilient workers you are Stage 2!
In Visual Arts the students are continuing to work on their textured backgrounds and animal artworks. We are learning how to combine a variety of art techniques and using a variety of mediums to create a dramatic effect.
Our preparations for our ‘Evening with ACOS’ performance in August have been progressing smoothly. The Wombats have learnt their dance choreography and are now practising and perfecting their moves. The Bilbies are in the process of learning their dance moves at the moment. Mrs Townsend has been very impressed with how willing the whole stage has been to embrace our monsters theme and take risks when it comes to moving in different ways.
Next week, the children will travel to Thalgarrah on Friday to participate in their ‘Art of Nature’ program. They will be looking at the elements of nature in a different way through painting and drawing.
