Year 11 & 12

Magical night on the Swan

On the first Friday of the term, a truly magical evening unfolded as our Year 11 students set sail aboard the elegant Crystal Swan, departing from Barrack Street Jetty.

An undeniable highlight of the evening was the energy on the dancefloor. With the DJ delivering hit after hit, the main dance floor stayed alive throughout the event. It was impossible not to notice how fantastic everyone looked. Dressed in their finest semi-formal attire and wearing radiant smiles, each student added their own unique flair to the night, creating a vibrant and unforgettable atmosphere.

Student Leaders Reunion

Seven of our Year 12 student leaders had the valuable opportunity to attend the annual WA Anglican Schools Association Leaders Reunion. This event brought together senior student leaders from schools across the state, providing a platform for them to reconnect with the peers they met during last year’s conference. It was a fantastic chance for our students to reflect on their leadership journeys so far, exchange ideas about the initiatives they have already implemented, and discuss their goals for the remainder of the school year.

A special highlight of the day was the presence of our 2024 Mandela House Captain, Wil Moesker (pictured). Wil joined the reunion as a guest speaker and shared his inspiring leadership journey, offering insight into the challenges he faced, the lessons he learned and how his experiences have shaped his aspirations for life beyond school. His story was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact that authentic leadership and service can have, not only within the school community but also in preparing for the future. Plus he showcased the brilliance of St George’s Leaders.

Year 11 and 12 ESTs & Exams

Term Two marks an important chapter for Year 11 and 12 students, as they gear up for their ESTs (Externally Set Tasks) and Semester One exams. These assessments are more than just tests — they are a chance to showcase everything learned and skills developed so far. Here are some practical strategies to support our students’ preparation:

Map Out Your Study Plan

Take control of your time by creating a realistic study timetable. Break your revision into focused, manageable sessions with clear goals for each subject. A well-structured plan keeps you on track and reduces last-minute stress.

Revisit and Revise

Dive back into your class notes, textbooks, and any resources your teachers have shared. Focus on the key themes, concepts, formulas, and definitions from the semester. Try using visual aids like mind maps, colour-coded notes, and memory tricks to help information stick.

Get Hands-On with Practice

One of the best ways to prepare is through active practice. Complete past exam papers and practice questions to become familiar with different question styles. Challenge yourself with timed mock exams to build confidence under exam conditions, using the marking keys to ascertain areas that still need work.

Ask for Help When You Need It

If something isn’t clicking, don’t sit in silence. Reach out to your teachers or classmates for clarification. Whether it’s a quick question in class or a dedicated meeting with a teacher, seeking help early can make all the difference. Make the most of the opportunity to attend Legendary Learners sessions where revision seminars and guided study with specialist teachers will be available into the evening for our Year 12 students.

Prioritise Your Wellbeing

Studying hard is important—but so is looking after yourself. Ensure you get enough sleep, eating well, and take regular breaks to refresh your mind. Incorporate relaxation techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, or physical activity to stay balanced and focused. Looking after yourself is crucial during times of stress.

Keep a Positive Outlook

Believe in yourself and the effort you’ve put in. Stay positive, celebrate small victories, and remember that setbacks are simply part of the learning process. Your attitude can have a big impact on your success.

Important Information:
