School Operations

Mrs Shannon Allen

You are invited . . .

There are some fantastic opportunities this term for our St George’s families to interact with our school community. We always love to welcome parents, guardians and carers into the School, whether for formal events, carnivals or meetings.

Over the next few weeks, we are holding several events where we are excited to open up the School to our families.

Next Tuesday, 20 May, sees us hosting our first round of Parent Teacher Interviews for Year 8 to 11 students, face to face here at 50 William Street. Whilst slightly reminiscent of speed dating, this is a valued opportunity for teachers and parents to build the strong relationships that we value so much at St George’s. Make sure that you pop into the Library on Level 2 between your interviews and meet some members of the 2025 Friends of St George’s Management Committee. The following week, Thursday 29 May, presents the opportunity for online Parent Teacher Interviews for Year 8 to 11 students. Information about bookings for both of these events will be sent out shortly.

Additionally, this term we are running our second Parent Guest Speaker Series for 2025, with Andy Hayes presenting about ‘Beyond the Haze’, understanding ADHDread more about this opportunity in our School Counsellor’s column today.

If you are free for a cup of tea and delicious scone and chocolate chip biscuit baked by our canteen staff, this term’s Afternoon Tea and Chatter has an academic focus. Come along on Wednesday 4 June to catch up with the Executive Team and Maths, English, Science and Humanities Heads of Learning Area to raise any questions, queries or concerns. We will be on Level 4 from 3.00pm.

WA Student Assistance Payment

Recently the WA State Government announced the introduction of cost-of-living support to WA families. The initiative is aimed to support families with school-aged children. The new WA Student Assistance will provide parents and carers with a $250 payment for each secondary student, and $150 for each primary school student or kindergartener.

To access this payment, families will need to register through the ServiceWA App from the start of Term 2. This will require your child’s WA Student Number, which can be found on the front cover of our St George’s Semester One and Two school reports and on a student’s Smartrider.

Further information from the WA State Government, about this initiative, can be found at WA Student Assistance Payment
