Foundation - Year 2
Welcome back to school Room 2 students!!
Term 1 is done and dusted and we have started this term strong and enthusiastic about our learning. Literacy makes up a big part of our day as learning to read and write are important skills for us learn.
In our classroom, we recognise that every child is on their own unique learning journey, especially when it comes to reading. Just like learning to walk or ride a bike, children become ready to read at different times. Some may begin reading early, while others take a little longer, and that's completely okay.
We focus on creating a rich and supportive environment where all children can grow in confidence, develop a love of stories, and build the foundational skills they need, at their own pace. With encouragement, practice, and a positive attitude, every child will progress in a way that’s just right for them.
Some students have already begun taking home readers and reading books that match their reading ability. Over the coming weeks, all students will be taking home books to practise their reading and develop their fluency.

Through Rosie’s Walk, we’ve been developing our understanding of:
It’s been a wonderful week of rich learning and creativity! Next week we will be finishing our writing as we write about our own character walk.

Maths in Our Classroom

To help us with this, we’ve been exploring a range of counting strategies, including:
To make learning fun and memorable, we’ve also added a catchy number line song to our classroom collection—songs are such a great way to support new concepts!
