Buloke Youth Health Expo 2025
The Buloke Youth Health Expo is bringing together Year 9 and 10 students from the five secondary schools in Buloke Shire on Tuesday 20 May at Birchip Recreation Reserve. The day is about discussing issues and listening to expert presenters to learn some ways to deal with every-day issues and difficult questions.
The working group has put together a fantastic program of presenters and activities for a day’s focus on health and lifestyle issues faced by young people. Presenters include Rapper and mental health fitness guru, Tim O’Donnell who will get the day started with some creative mental gymnastics. Tim was voted the most popular presenter at the 2023 expo. East Wimmera Health Service, health promotion team, Stacey Keller and Maddie Hendy, will provide advice about nutrition and health. Ambulance Victoria, Paramedic Community Support Coordinator, Eliot Walton knows that kids can save lives and the importance of a quick response with CPR with an information session and practical skills session. Respect with a capital R.E.S.P.E.C.T is the topic of Gabrielle Mentz from Women’s Health Loddon Mallee; we are also planning a session to provide tips and advice about risks and safety around alcohol and other drugs including vaping to round off the day.
A delicious lunch that includes build-your-own-sandwich, fruit and muffins is provided thanks to the catering team at Birchip P-12. Lunchtime includes headspace challenges and games thanks to headspace Swan Hill and Reclink, the Smoothie Bike, Brooke Warren and the KIT (Keep in Touch) van, thanks to Anglicare, Buloke Library, Jade Hunter and Active Schools and time to talk to the speakers.
