Wellbeing

Across the school we have been talking about our school values, practising emotional literacy and discussing personal strengths.

The focus in Zones of Regulation curriculum has been upon building a set of “tools’ for our “regulation toolbox”. For example, some people use breathing to regulate. Others prefer to go for a walk or write in a journal. Your ‘tools” are what work best for you. And they can be different to someone else.

Have a  conversation at home – what is in your “toolbox” to help you regulate? I don’t like journalling, but I love to exercise – so going for a walk or run helps me regulate. We will be teaching the students the many options we have to choose from to add to our toolboxes so, when the time comes, they know what they can do to help themselves.
