Congratulations to Ivy who competed at District Cross Country today. Hot off the press we have the news that, although she did not qualify for the next level, she achieved her personal goal to run the whole distance. Well done, Ivy. You showed your RED GUM values today – aiming for excellence and showing determination. We are very proud that you are part of our school.
Book Fair
Our Book Fair was well attended and students had fun picking out books to purchase. This is a great way of getting children into reading. Thank you to everyone who purchased some books as school will get some monetary credit to buy some books for our library.
Gymnastics Sessions
We applied for Sporting School funding and have received same to use in Term 2. Each grade will be having two gymnastics sessions in at the Hamilton Gymnastics Club. The event dates have now been changed to accommodate the Gymnastics Club. The sessions will now be:-
Years F/2 - Tuesday 20th and 27th May
Years 3/6 - Tuesday 3rd and 10th June
If you haven't yet consented on our school app, please do so as soon as possible.
Baimbridge College Open Day
Our Year 6 students attended Baimbridge College on Thursday 15th May. They had a good day experiencing secondary school. The canteen was, as usual, a pretty big hit.
Glasses for Kids Initiative
Years F-3 students have been sent home with information in relation to participating in the Glasses for Kids Initiative through State School's Relief and the Department of Education. This is a fantastic initiative that tests and supplies glasses if needed, free of charge. Please complete the consent form and optometrist questionnaire and return to school by Tuesday 22 July (first Tuesday back in Term 2).
Do It For Dolly
Last Friday our students were asked to wear blue and bring in a gold coin donation for Do It For Dolly Day. The students raised $120 to go towards raising awareness and vital funds for Dolly’s Dream and helping to prevent other families from experiencing the devastation that bullying causes. Thank you to everyone who donated.
Thank You
A big thank you to the Young family for ordering some topsoil. This was delivered on Friday and Jodie and family spent hours over the weekend spreading it around the school yards and oval and also putting some wood chips around gardens etc. They are also planning on sowing the oval on the weekend. We are very appreciative of your time and support.
Advertisement for Classroom Teacher
Due to my increasing workload as Principal, we are currently advertising for a classroom teacher to take over my role in the Year 4 & 6 classroom. The successful applicant will work Monday to Thursday, focusing on teaching Literacy and Numeracy. I absolutely adore teaching your children, and will miss my classroom role, but it is in the best interests of everyone if I pick up the reins on the principal role. We have a lot coming up in Semester 2, including our School Review. I want to present our wonderful school in its best light.
