Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 2

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,

We have had a great start to Term 2 with all students settling back into school and learning. We have a very big week planned.  I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our mothers, grandmothers and female caregivers and wish you all a Happy Mother's Day for this Sunday.

Welcome New Staff

I would like to give a warm welcome to Mrs Rebecca Pepper and Mrs Angela Gordon who are taking on the role of Learning and Support Teacher and RFF.  Also, we welcome Ms Vanessa Saunders taking on the role of School Learning Support Officer and heading up our Life Skills Program with Yrs 4/5/6.  Welcome ladies.

Behaviour Focus

Our behaviour focus for Week 2 is  -

We are learning to:

  • Be kind to each other

  • Use kind words

  • If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours

We know we are successful when:

  • Having manners

  • Ask people if they are ok?

  • Including everyone

Mother's Day Stall

Our P&C will be holding a Mother's Day stall this Friday whereby students can purchase gifts.  All gifts are $5 each.  Order forms were sent home last week.  If you did not receive one, please contact the office.

"Do It For Dolly" Day

We will be participating this year in the "Do It For Dolly" Day also on this Friday, 9th May.  We ask all students to wear the colour blue and bring a gold coin donation.  We will also be selling blue cupcakes for a gold coin donation and blue jelly cups for 50c.  All proceeds from the day will go to the Dolly’s Dream Foundation who provide free support and resources to help navigate the challenges of bullying and its impacts, connect with services, and take steps towards creating a kinder, safer world. For more information go to their website: www.dollysdream.org.au.  Our students will also be participating in a range of activities connected to the Dolly's Dream Foundation and participating in a colouring in competition for Yrs K-2 and a kindness poster competition for Yrs 3-6.

Yr 5/6 GRIP Leadership Conference

Our students in Yrs 5/6 have been given the opportunity to attend the GRIP Leadership Conference at Tamworth Town Hall next Tuesday, 13th May.  Notes were sent home last week, and we ask those who have not returned their notes to please do so by the end of this week to ensure your place is secured.  Cost for this day is $5.  If you have not received the note, please contact the school office.

WCSC Easter Colouring In Competition

Congratulations to all of our students who won a chocolate Easter Bunny from the Werris Creek Sports Club Colouring In Competition. Thank you to Mrs Gail Kelly who presented these prizes and to the Werris Creek Sports Club for your continued support to our school.

Life Skills Program

Our 4/5/6W students will have the opportunity to work with Ms Saunders each week participating in our Life Skills Program. Students will utilise their numeracy, literacy and social skills to collate orders, buy ingredients and cook/prepare meal deals that will be available to purchase on Tuesdays throughout Term 2.  Each week we will advertise the meal deal for the following week and students must have their orders in by the Monday.  This allows our students to collate the orders and work out what they need to purchase to create the meal. No late orders will be accepted.

Kind regards

Kathy Nott
