Acting Principal

Danielle Frost

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that we have made it to yet another end of term but here we are and I am writing this in my first appointment as Acting Principal. I will endeavour to steer the ship to the best of my ability whilst Mrs O’Donnell is enjoying family time in Europe.

We have had a very busy but fulfilling Term 3. The time spent in and out of the classroom has seen bonds strengthened and as always, we have banded together in true St MM’s spirit! Below is a snapshot of what has occurred this term in the various areas of school life -

Religious Life - This term we saw our Year 3 students receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion at St Margaret Mary’s Church, something that they will remember for years to come. Our Year 6 students have begun preparations for the Year 6 RE test which will take place in Week 1 of next term.

Academic Achievements - Our students have shown remarkable dedication to their learning, and their hard work has paid off.  Our Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN results arrived this term and they were very pleasing. The staff will spend time analysing the results and developing teaching and learning programs to cater for the needs of the students and then the analysis and explanation of the results will be given to parents in Term 4.

Creative Arts  - Our artists and performers have entertained us with their talents. From creating portraits to the choir performing at our First Holy Communion and our Amadeus music performance which received a standing ovation! We are so proud of the students' creativity and enthusiasm.

Sport and Physical Education - Our students have been active and engaged in physical education activities. We've witnessed great teamwork, sportsmanship, and the development of new skills in sport lessons as well as celebrated individual achievements in higher levels of inter-school and external competitions. Congratulations to all our budding athletes!

Environmental Initiatives - Our SRC have been promoting environmental initiatives, such as recycling, nude food and gardening and have taught our students the importance of caring for our planet.

School Spirit - we had many whole school events that left us feeling uplifted - the City2Surf and Book Week are definitely my top two and ones that I won’t be forgetting for a while!

Upcoming Events - Don't forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming events in the new term, including our very first Feast Day and the 2023 Swimming Carnival.

Finally, I wish to extend my gratitude to the dedicated staff, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our students for making this term memorable. Wishing you all a joyful, relaxing, and rejuvenating break!
