CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Writing we are learning to write persuasive texts. 

VOCABULARY

Persuasive text: a piece of writing that aims to convince the reader of a certain point of view.

Convince: make a person agree or believe by arguing or showing evidence.

Argument: a set of reasons given in support of an idea.

Debate: A formal discussion in which opposing arguments are put forward

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

When talking to your child this week, encourage them to state their opinion about activities you are planning, or doing as a family. 

For example:

I like having pizza for dinner because it’s my favourite food. 

I don’t think we should go to the playground today because it is raining.
