This week in Reading we are learning to infer.

VOCABULARY

Infer: using text clues and prior knowledge to make an educated guess. 

Text clues: using pictures, text, front cover and blurb, to help our understanding of a text.

Schema: information we already know.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

When reading with your child, stop part way through and ask what they can infer about how a character is feeling or what they might be thinking. 

Can your child tell you which text clues they used to make this inference?
