Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
It has been a week of big emotions with the news coming through last Friday that Pat has been appointed the ongoing Principal at Mentone. We congratulate him and wish him well for this next stage in his career. Whilst we are all disappointed that Pat is moving on from St Finbar's, we appreciate that he felt that the time was right to accept such an opportunity. Please mark Thursday 2nd November at 2:30pm in your diaries, as we will farewell Pat for the final time. MACS will start the process of appointing a new Principal for St Finbar's over the next few weeks.
It has been an active week around the classrooms. The Preps had their second visit from the firefighters on Monday, with each student having a turn of holding the hose. The Year 3 and 4 team held their Marketplace which was the culmination of their term's work. The students did an amazing job of planning their stall and they raised over $600 for their chosen disability charities. The Year 2 classrooms were a hub of activity on Thursday morning as they invited parents in to their classrooms for Year 2 Open Morning. Finally the Year 5/6 Cluster Day took place on Thursday giving students the opportunity to mix with their peers from St Joan of Arc and St Mary's and make connections with other students in readiness for their transition to secondary school.
We wish every family a safe and happy break over the next two weeks. It has been a huge term, with our very successful school production being the highlight for many of our students. Many students will benefit from a chance to have a good rest and come back refreshed for tour final term of learning.
RUOK Day?
Today is RUOK? Day, a day when we take the time to check in with our friends to gauge how they are doing. It is important that we know what to do next if someone indicates that they are not doing so well. The following slides have been used this week as part of our SEL lessons; feel free to look through them as a family.
Uniform
As per our uniform policy, students will transition to Summer uniform at the beginning of Term 4. The document below is taken from the Parents' Handbook and is a reminder of our uniform policy.
MACSIS School Improvement Surveys
This is the final week to complete our MACSIS surveys. So far 40 families have completed them. Please do take the time to complete - we'd love to beat last year's total of 75 families
