Around The Primary

Dear Families

The physical, social, and emotional well-being of children is so important in our modern world. They need to have a greater awareness of their own and others’ emotions. Learning the importance of empathy, in turn, improves self-regulation, behaviour and positive decision-making. It is important for all children to develop skills associated with well-being and resilience.

Over the last few weeks our Pre-Primary through to Year 3 classes have been participating in the Phys Zen program. This program has introduced the students to mindful movement, breathing techniques, relaxation and mindfulness. The goal has been to empower students with a new set of skills and a toolkit of strategies for increasing self-regulation and resilience in their daily lives.

These sessions have been fun yet challenging and choreographed to relaxing music. The lessons have been designed to build upon knowledge as the weeks progress. Our staff have observed the positive impact these sessions have had on the students and commented on how settled and focussed the students have been on their return to class.

On RUOK Day the Year 4-6 students participated in a yoga session too and they enjoyed the opportunity to learn and explore new skills.

We will continue to look for ways to enrich our health and well-being programs, to foster happy, strong, and healthy minds and bodies.

Kind regards

Great Minds

Our Year 6 GATE students have embarked on a journey of independent study into the lives of significant figures and their profound impacts on the world.

Each student immersed themselves in the character of their chosen person delving into their lives, qualities, characteristics, and the challenges they overcame. They became the embodiment of these Great Minds, taking on their personas with dedication and enthusiasm.

The culmination of this journey was their impressive public speaking. Our students not only showcased their in-depth knowledge, but also engaged in conversations with adults, impressing all with their eloquence, confidence, and insights. The students’ efforts were truly amazing!

AQWA

The Year One students had a wonderful time exploring AQWA last Friday. They were introduced to unique creatures and learnt about strategies that marine life use to survive in the ocean. They were SEAcret Agents for the day, solving fun-filled investigations of light, sound and secret messages.

Students particularly enjoyed touching the starfish and Port Jackson sharks, as well as, visiting the Dangerzone where they discovered how creatures use power or poison to catch their food.

Thank you to the parent helpers who assisted during the excursions. It was a fantastic experience for the first excursion in Year One.
