Whitehouse Institute of Design Illustration and Portfolio Workshop

September 18, 2023

This workshop is for aspiring designers and recommended as a starting point for those wishing to develop their illustration skills and create a portfolio for application to the Bachelor of Design program. In this 2-hour workshop, you will gain an understanding of how to illustrate with Marker and Paper, experiment with different multi-media materials and learn techniques for presenting your creative ideas.

This workshop focuses on the following areas of skill development including:

  •  Illustration techniques
  • Application of pencils, professional markers and felt-tip pens for professional rendering
  • Brief analysis of trends and preparation of illustrations to compliment a Mood Board
  • Exploring an individual design aesthetic
  • Beginners portfolio development and learn how to present your work for application to the Bachelor of Design program.

Deakin | Science and Environment School Experience Program

October 9 to October 13, 2023

The School of Life and Environmental Science would like to offer Year 10 students with an interest in science and the environment, the opportunity to participate in this hands-on experience. The program includes a full day of engaging and interactive activities in the field of science and the environment. Students will get the opportunity to participate in activities such as water testing, vegetation surveys, protein analysis, food chemistry and molecular biology.

Apply for the National Computer Science School 2024 

NCSS is a ten-day summer school bringing together talented young people from around Australia, running from 6th-15th January 2024.

 

NCSS will run streams at UNSW in Sydney (Cyber Security) and at the University of Melbourne (Chatbot/web/cloud development).  Both streams involve learning advanced computing skills in a university setting.

The programme also includes fun teamwork activities, and the opportunity to meet industry professionals.

All NCSS students reside on campus at a residential college, with NCSS tutors and staff providing pastoral care for the duration of the summer school.

 

Applications will close at 5pm AEST on 15th September.

 

We can offer financial support to students from low-SES schools, rural and remote areas, and in cases of financial hardship.

AIE | Industry Experience Days

September 20 to October 4, 2023 

 

AIE’s Industry Experience Day is a great opportunity for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to learn about the local and international game development, 3D animation and visual effects industries. Students will get the opportunity to learn about the different pathways to get into the industry, what should be in a portfolio and will be able to get creative in practical workshops using industry-standard 3D animation and game development tools.

The sessions are run by industry professionals who have worked on some blockbuster games and films. Everything is provided for you to participate in the hands-on workshops and you will be using the same software that is used in the industry.

  • Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide: October 4th

University of Melbourne | Hands on Engineering & IT

September 27 to September 28, 2023 

A day of workshops to introduce year 10 students to different areas of Engineering & IT.

You don’t need any prior knowledge – this day is about having a look at Engineering & IT, solving a few problems, seeing the campus, meeting some students and academics, having a pizza lunch and having fun. The schedule will be repeated daily so students should attend one day only.
