Performing Arts

Music Matters

All ensembles will resume rehearsals as per usual this week.

Congratulations to our 2023 Performing Arts Captain, Jacob Chang for being offered an early entry position at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music to study the Bachelor of Music, majoring in Classical Voice. This is a wonderful achievement.

Performing Arts Captains: Our upcoming Class of 2024 have been emailed with details on how to apply for consideration as a Performing Arts Captain for 2024. Successful candidates will have an obvious love for Music and/or Drama and have had a high level of involvement in the Performing Arts during their time at the College. These leadership positions are responsible for advocating for the Performing Arts throughout the school and assist with the organisation and MC'ing of College performances and events.

PAPA meeting  our final meeting for 2023 is next Monday 16 October at 7:00 pm in the Music rooms. Parking will be available on the school grounds. All welcome.

Instrumental hire: Students who have hired an instrument from the College for private home practice are asked to return them to the Performing Arts office by the end of Week 8. Should your son require his instrument for a school performance after this time, he is asked to bring it to the Music office afterwards.

Onstage nomination

Congratulations to Caleb Hanrahan for his recent nomination for Onstage with the monologue 'Death of England'. Caleb worked extensively on this performance and it is wonderful to see his hard work being recognised by the HSC markers from NESA. Onstage is an exhibition of exemplary work that is presented at the Seymour Centre in February 2024. Caleb will find out if he has been chosen for the exhibition later in the year.

The Little Mermaid

We had a fantastic day out at the Riverside Theatre in Parramatta seeing the Sydney Youth Musical Theatre’s version of Hans Christian Anderson/Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The acting and singing was impeccable with a strong chorus of over 60 young actors and outstanding leads including past student Lachlan Donlevy and present student Isaac Donlevy.
