3/4 News…

The students in years 3 and 4 have been completing a number of experiments as part of our Science unit this term.  In these experiments, the children were investigating a form of potential energy called static electricity. In the first activity, the students used a comb to separate salt and pepper. They were fascinated that the pepper would rise and stick to the comb and even more excited when they realised they could do this experiment with a balloon and get even more pepper to rise.

They then used the balloon to lift tissue from the table and to bend water. They learned a lot about static electricity and that even though you can create static electricity by rubbing a balloon on our carpet, nothing beats rubbing a balloon on your hair!
