Principal's Report

Mrs Larissa Vesdrevanis

To all of our dedicated teachers at Donvale Primary School. Today, we come together to honour and appreciate their incredible efforts and commitment. Happy World Teachers' Day! 🌍🍎In a world that constantly evolves, teachers remain the unwavering pillars of providing our children the skills and knowledge and dispositions they need to lead successful lives.  They possess the remarkable ability to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and empower students to reach their full potential. Their dedication and passion for education are truly awe-inspiring.

On Wednesday, we began celebrations with hosting a beautiful lunch and giving our teachers a framed message of inspiration. Thank you to Lucky Szedlak who catered and cooked for the staff.  We were treated to a gourmet lunch and felt appreciated. The children have created a special thank you video for our teachers which we will be watching collectively today at a special mini assembly.

Thank you to Sonja Terpstra MP- North Eastern Metro for sending some delicious cupcakes from her office.

During last week's assembly, I acknowledged Jake Marriott for writing me a persuasive letter about purchasing new basketball nets. As I emphasized, the skill of persuasive writing holds great value in one's life. I invite you to read Jake's letter and observe the persuasive techniques employed. I encourage all students to utilise their writing skills to make their voices heard. Congratulations, Jake, on a job well done!

Ongoing conflict in the Middle East

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to cause distress for staff, students, families and carers, especially those who have family and friends in the region.

Our school is a rich and diverse community and acknowledging that it is vital that our students, staff and families all feel safe and included in everything we do.

I want to assure you that the department is monitoring the situation from a school security perspective.

While we want to maintain an open and welcoming environment, we are also being vigilant in terms of safety, ensuring all our procedures, like visitors signing in and out, are being followed.

If your child is impacted and/or distressed by the current conflict, you may find some aspects of this resource helpful:
