Term 3, Week 10 Newsletter
It has been my great pleasure to serve as the relieving principal at Granville East Public School over the past two terms. As my time here comes to an end this week, I have been reflecting on the special nature of this school and talking to our students about the joy that can be found every day at GEPS.
Our Kindergarten students have found joy in colouring, painting, playing in the sandpit, caring for the visiting chicks and the excursion to the farm.
Stage 1 students love their teachers, writing, playing soccer and tips, cooking and making new friends.
Stage 2 students told me they find joy in the school atmosphere, dancing, sports, the mini fete, learning about sleep in their CTC projects, and most of all, the companionship of true friends.
Stage 3 students shared that senior choir, camp, designing and building projects during Grapple, free writing and drawing, and simply being part of Granville East brings them joy.
These heartfelt words from our students truly reflect the power of joy and the vibrant, caring community we have here.
I also want to congratulate our senior choir and Koori Club dancers, who represented GEPS at the Gimbawali: Festival of Stars concert at the Opera House on Monday night. Our students sang as part of a 600-person choir, captivating the audience with the beautiful sounds of their harmonies. And our Koori Club dancers performed for the first time as part of a First Nations Combined Schools Dance Ensemble- a very special moment indeed.
The theme of performances continued this week at our very own GEPS Performance Day. From our youngest Kindergarten students, who gave us a taste of Africa and Hawaii, to our amazing GEPS Dance Team, all of our students performed beautifully- sharing the magic of dance and joy. I was so impressed with their talent and confidence!
Throughout Term 3 those same themes have come through time and time again. There has been so much to celebrate together- this is just a tase of what we have done together this term:
· 100 days of Kindy
· School and Zone Athletics
· Book Week
· Mini Fete
· SRC fundraisers- Oodies and Robes and Jersey Day
· PSSA semis
· Father’s Day Stall
· Stage 3 camp
· Parent Learning Walks
· CAPA showcase
· NRL clinics
· Kindergarten Open Classrooms and Learning Conversations
· Stage 2 Expo
· Stage 3 Come and Write morning
· GEPS Fests and the Gold Badge assembly
And, of course, our students stretch themselves in the classroom every day to learn and grow academically, socially and emotionally.
I would like to acknowledge the staff who help to make all of these things (and so much more) happen at our school. Granville East is very luck to have such a committed group of professionals to teacher and learn and walk alongside your children.
As I say goodbye, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the students, families, and staff of Granville East Public School for their kind and generous welcome and support during my time as relieving principal. It has been an honour to be part of this joyful community.
I warmly welcome Ms Louise Reynolds back in Term 4, Week 2, and I wish everyone a safe, happy, and restful holiday. I know this wonderful community will continue to celebrate the power of joy, nurturing a school where every day is filled with positivity, learning, and connection.
Thank you.
