Formal revision for VCE exams is beginning in most of our Unit 3/4 VCE classes. For those students preparing for exams, staying informed and organised is going to be the key to success.
All students undertaking a Unit 3/4 subject will be completing Practice Exams in the second week of the school holidays. They have been given a timetable and should be aware of when they are required to be at school.
Students should arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their practice exams wearing full Overnewton winter uniform.
In preparation for these practice exams and their final exams, students are encouraged to:
Create a study schedule, mapping out when their exams fall, a scheduling good chunks of time to complete practice exam papers.
Complete as many practice past exam papers as possible. These should be completed without materials otherwise not permitted in exams and completed to a time limit. Speed and accuracy can only be improved with practice.
Asking for teacher feedback on trial exams, and acting on that feedback, is highly recommended.
Sleep and nutrition are just as important as revision. Students need to get a full nights sleep, away from devices and eat meals that support good brain activity.
Communicate! Students are encouraged to make sure they keep talking to their teachers as much as possible in these important revision weeks. Their teachers want to help.
Key Dates for the 2025 VCE Exams

Year 11 Camp
Students from Unit 2 Outdoor Environmental Studies camped at Kooyoora State Park, 40 mins west of Bendigo. The area is known for its dramatic granite boulders, rich Indigenous history, and goldmines.
Students completed a variety of walks including the Melville Caves, the 7km Long Walk and Crystal Mines.
Students cooked their dinner in a Trangia, pitched their tent and with a clear sky enjoyed star and satellite gazing . As the temperature dropped to minus 1 overnight, we all appreciated the warm fire pit!
On day-two, Michael and Roberta from the local community group called “Friends of Kooyoora”, taught the students about the unique native flowers in area. We appreciated their knowledge and passion for preserving the environment.

Year 10 Camp
Year 10 students in Outdoor Education travelled to Mansfield to ride 22 km along the Great Victorian Rail Trail to Bonnie Doon. Students were guided by instructors from All Trails Adventures who highlighted the Mullen wetlands, Uncle Mick scar trees, agriculture, and art installations along the trail.
Day-two, students travelled to the Yea Wetlands and attended an information session led by PhD student Lynn. She spoke of the significance of the wetlands for filtering water, storing carbon, and supporting recreational and tourism opportunities. Ron, a community volunteer, led our group outside. Walking along the newly installed boardwalk, he showed the students invasive species removal programs, swamp wallabies hiding in the native grass, and blue fairy-wrens. A highlight was Ron’s telescopic camera that could check nesting boxes for small mammals.
Students were able to make many links with the curriculum as well as spend quality time with peers.

Each fortnight, the College Careers Team publishes a newsletter providing students and parents with the most up-to-date career information, events and opportunities.
