Waa's Helpers Partners With Environmental Education Victoria

Over the last two weeks our sustainability team (Waa’s Helpers) partnered with Environmental Education Victoria’s Bronnie Walsh, along with retired Overnewton leader and grounds expert, Rob Huntington, to complete a biodiversity audit of our 23 hectares of land. This important process helps us track the health of our environment and celebrate the positive changes that come from our community’s ongoing efforts.

We are delighted to share that our biodiversity count has grown significantly, increasing from 56 to 66 species since the last audit. This rise is a wonderful reflection of the hard work and dedication from our students, facilities team, gardeners, and parents, who continue to nurture our grounds and create spaces that allow native plants and animals to thrive.

This achievement not only highlights our commitment to improving the environment but also supports us in working towards our Third Star as part of the Resource Smart Program. It shows how our collective actions are making a measurable difference in protecting and enhancing our environment for the future.
