Principal's

News

Dear Parents,

Last week students from Foundation to Year 6 were involved in an incursion on Cyber Safety. This is most important for all of our students and is timely to emphasise to parents the upcoming legislation pertaining to social media. Please monitor your children at all times and minimize their exposure to any social media. If incidents occur outside of school on social media platforms we will not solve or investigate this at school as this is the responsibility of each parent to supervise online usage out of school hours. Of course, we will support our students' mental health and wellbeing if required.

Congratulations to our students for their respect and exemplary behaviour during the incursion. The presenter was most impressed with the behaviour of our students across the school. We highly value a calm, orderly and respectful environment for our students to learn and flourish in and we are very proud of all of our students in the way they conduct themselves. This also relates to wearing our uniform proudly. Please make sure your child has the full uniform on each day including black shoes with the formal uniform.

We look forward to hosting the Little Scientists, Big Ideas expo on Tuesday 16th September. We have many other schools sending their student teams along with scientists, local community and Catholic Education staff. Come along and join in.

The STEM Expo runs from 9am - 1.30pm in the hall for nominees from all schools.

Following this parents are invited to each classroom for their child’s Inquiry expo from 2.15- 3pm on this day.

Congrats to our amazing Dom Taylor on being  a state finalist in the Victorian Tidy town awards for the brilliant Nature Play group. Fingers crossed!

We look forward to all students from Year 4- 6 performing in the upcoming Wakakirri state final  on Monday 8th September. What a wonderful experience for everyone involved.

We have some important visitors visiting St Joseph’s from Monday 8th September to Friday 12th. Hani Nusantari, a  marine biologist from Lombok Indonesia has been associated with our school since 2012.  Hani has been instrumental in partnering with us in the 'Sea is our Best Friend' project over many years as our connecting point with our sister school in Indonesia.

Hani, along with her colleague Boen from JARI a locally run marine conservation organisation based in Lombok, Indonesia. With a strong focus on marine education programs, Hani works with local schools on a similar mangrove regeneration project. We will also welcome the Principal and a teacher from our new sister school which is so exciting for us all.

Don't forget we have Fathers Day and special person’s celebration this Friday.

Students have made a special present in class. Please send $5 to cover the cost of the Father’s Day gifts.

The Preps will lead the Father’s day mass at 2pm which will also be followed by a sausage sizzle and some fun and games till 4pm. All welcome.

Congratulations to Sophie and Helen for winning the Art award at Crib Point community centre and Lachlan for receiving a special mention.

Finally, just a reminder we finish for Term 3 on Wednesday 17th at 3.15pm.

There will be a whole school assembly for our St Joseph’s spirit awards from 2.30pm.

Staff will then be involved in a conference focussing on Vision for instruction and Vision for engagement on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
