Update on Out of School Hours Care (OSHC)- New Provider appointed for Term 4.

Since our last update, further discussions have taken place with OSHClub regarding the delivery of Out of School Hours Care at Trafalgar Primary School. Together, the school and OSHClub have agreed that their service will conclude at the end of Term 3.

OSHClub had always intended to finish at this point, and while the school had initially asked them to continue until the end of the year to support families, this was unfortunately not possible. We thank OSHClub for their contribution to our school community and the care they have provided for our students.

Looking ahead, we are very pleased to announce that TheirCare has been appointed as our new OSHC provider.

We’re pleased to share that we’ve partnered with TheirCare, an independent Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) provider, to deliver high-quality care for our students.TheirCare offers a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where children can build friendships, develop life skills, and explore their creativity through play-based learning programs. We look forward to welcoming TheirCare to the Trafalgar Primary School community in 2025 and are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring for our families.

For more information, please visit www.theircare.com.au or contact TheirCare’s support office on 1300 072 410.

While TheirCare has been appointed, there is a required approval process we must follow with the Department of Education. Given the tight timeframes, we are working closely with the Department to expedite service approval. However, due to the short notice, there may be a temporary delay in care. We will keep you informed and do everything we can to minimise disruption.

TheirCare will have an option for Vacation Care during the upcoming school holidays at nearby services, and we will share enrolment information as soon as it becomes available.

Please keep an eye out for communications from both the school and TheirCare.

We’re excited about the future of the OSHC program and look forward to working with TheirCare to deliver a safe, engaging, and inclusive service for our children.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of families during this transition and are confident that the new partnership with TheirCare will provide high-quality care and support for our students into the future.

Little Village Project at Trafalgar Primary School

This year, Trafalgar Primary School has been fortunate to join the Little Village Project-  a community-led initiative supported by Kindred Spirits Enterprises. Since 2019, the project has worked alongside local primary schools to remove barriers to learning for vulnerable children, funding evidence-based interventions such as mental health care, speech and occupational therapy, and sensory support.

At Trafalgar PS, Little Village Project funding has enabled us to engage an Occupational Therapist (OT) in a clinical supervision role. This work focuses on helping the school:

  • Review learning support processes for students eligible for additional funding through the Department of Education’s Disability Inclusion Profile.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments (with parent permission) to support school applications for this funding.
  • Provide advice to teachers on universal adjustments so that classrooms remain inclusive for all students.

It’s important to note that this OT role is not about providing direct therapy sessions to individual students. Some families have recently contacted the school requesting OT sessions for their child—this is not part of the Little Village Project arrangement. Instead, families who are seeking occupational therapy or other allied health services are encouraged to organise these directly outside of school.

If you would like help connecting with external services, please contact our Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) Leader.

Meet Our MHiPS Leader

Aerin Vennard- MHiPS Leader
Aerin Vennard- MHiPS Leader

As part of the Department of Education’s MHiPS program, our school has a dedicated leader, Aerin Vennard  whose role is to support teachers to put in place strategies that strengthen your child’s emotional wellbeing at school. This is not a counselling role. Instead, the MHiPS Leader:

  • Works closely with teachers if a child is showing early signs of struggling with friendships, anxiety, behaviour, or general wellbeing.
  • Helps families understand what supports can be provided at school.
  • Provides referrals and guidance if parents wish to access counselling or allied health professionals outside of school.

The goal is simple: to ensure every child at Trafalgar Primary feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Parents & Friends News

Father's Day Stalls

We would like to thank students and their families for purchasing Father's Day gifts last week. Thank you to the many parents who volunteered their time to help with the many tasks involved in planning, setting up, and running the stalls. Your presence and input helped the stalls run smoothly and feedback was overwhelmingly positive from both students and staff. Over 750 gifts were sold that we hope were a nice surprise for the dads, grandparents, carers and other loved ones on their special day. We also raised $2,502.50 for our school before costs, which is a fantastic outcome.

Final Lost Property Collection Opportunity

Don't miss your last chance to collect your child's lost items!

We're making it convenient for families to retrieve lost property during our upcoming Student Led Conferences. All unclaimed items will be displayed in the Blue Area (front undercover area) during:

Trivia Night - Cancelled

We regret to inform families that, due to scheduling difficulties, the much anticipated TPS trivia night has had to be cancelled this year.  We plan to run the trivia night again in 2026.

We hope to run another fundraiser in its place across Term 4. Watch this space as we work in the background to hopefully bring families something equally exciting!

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events!

The School Library currently has a large number of overdue library books outstanding. Please check to see if you have any TPS books hiding at home and return them before the end of term.  We're challenging each class to a competition!  Whichever class returns all their overdue books by Thursday September 18th wins!
