TERM 3, Week 7
Yesterday, the Prep students had an unforgettable excursion to the McRae farm, where they experienced the joy of learning about farming in a hands-on and exciting way. To begin the day, each child planted their very own seed in a takeaway cup to care for and watch grow. The children explored the paddocks, ran through the crops, and even enjoyed a game of hide and seek in the open fields.
The day was packed with fun challenges as part of an “Amazing Race” adventure. Students cheered each other on during tunnel ball, worked together to spell the word FARM using natural materials, and carefully transported a tyre across the paddock without letting it roll. They bravely fed a cow a crunchy carrot, tested their memory with a matching game, and raced to fill up buckets with sand.
It was truly a day filled with joy, laughter, teamwork, and learning. Our students discovered the wonders of farming life, the fun of working together, and the magic that imagination brings when we’re out in nature. To top it all off, each student received a special show bag, kindly donated by Emmett’s John Deere of Warracknabeal, which was an extra treat to end the day.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jacinta and Alexander for hosting us on their beautiful property, preparing such thoughtful activities, and providing our students with a very special experience that they will remember for a long time.
We also thank Andrew Hendy and Fox & Lillie for surprising our students with stress sheep last week—these squishy gifts brought lots of smiles.
