Kooyoora Excursion

On Wednesday 15th of October the staff and students from St Mary's Primary School and Bridgewater Primary School travelled together for an excursion to Kooyoora (Melville Caves). Students met with Michael, Ros and Peter from the Friends of Kooyoora for a very engaging exploration of the native flora in the Kooyoora State Park. Students were each given a very colourful booklet containing the photos of a variety of native flowers and were encouraged to search along the walking tracks to identify and match the flowers in the book with the ones we found on our nature walk. It was terrific to see the students so engaged, asking great questions and eagerly searching for the flowers whilst enjoying the glorious weather and beautiful location. The excursion was a terrific opportunity to apply some hands-on learning experiences to deepen their understanding of local ecosystems and biodiversity. We extend a hearty thanks to the Friends of Kooyoora team for facilitating such a fun excursion and we look forward to exploring Kooyoora State Park in future excursion opportunities.

Foundation - Grade 2 Religion

This term, the students are learning about their mission throughout life and what journeys they have all been on to get to where they are today. Students have been learning to identify their talents and what makes them unique. They created a poster which displays their journey from when they were born to Foundation and also the people who have helped them along the way. Students have also been learning about what talents we have and why they are important to make us all unique and different from one another.

Grade 3-6 Religion

Students have been engaged in learning around Living as Disciples in our Religion lessons over the past couple of weeks. They have been learning about Jesus' teaching around the Beatitudes (blessings). As a class, we completed a guided meditation where students imagined being on the hill with Jesus and the people who were listening to Him. They imagined hearing His words and thought about what they mean for their lives. Students then drew and wrote about what they saw or felt. This was a great chance for students to reflect upon their understanding of Jesus' teachings and how they can apply these to their own lives.
