SEL in Term Four

This week, a consent notice was sent out to all families about our upcoming Social and Emotional Learning program for Term Four. It involves important learning around anti-violence that we hope all students at Dinjerra Primary will be participating in. Please make sure to complete the consent form on Compass when you can. You can find the notice that was shared on Compass below:

Hello Dinjerra families,

I write to inform you about our upcoming Social and Emotional Learning in all classrooms on Topic 7 (Gender Norms and Stereotypes) and Topic 8 (Positive Gender Relations) of the Department of Education’s Respectful Relationships, Rights and Responsibilities, which is a significant contributor to our whole-school Social and Emotional Learning program.

We are hoping for all students to participate in this anti-violence program. However, you may wish to decline consent for your child to participate through this Compass notice. Should you decline consent for your child to participate, then they will be completing alternative learning, which will include Library. Consent is due by Tuesday 21st October.

Respectful Relationships is a whole school approach aimed towards the prevention of violence. This approach is guided by evidence-based research, which contributed to the development of comprehensive resources released to all Victorian schools at the end of 2024.

At Dinjerra Primary, we are dedicated towards using the Respectful Relationships program to:

  • Prevent the development of gender-based violence behaviours in our community
  • Promote social and emotional wellbeing skills
  • Increase positive mental health outcomes for all students
  • Promote positive gender norms
  • Reduce anti-social behaviours
