From the Principal Class Team

Dear MRC Community,
Dear MRC Community,
Our latest edition of the Newsletter marks the end of Term 3. The Term 3 holidays will provide a great opportunity for students and staff to relax a little, or to consolidate in the case of Year 12 VCE students.
WeShare/Parent Teacher Interviews
Our WeShare/Parent Teacher interviews will take place in the final week of Term 3 – Tuesday September 16. These events provide the opportunity for open discussions regarding student performance and to set goals for improvement. Students should use the holiday to reflect on achievement and commit to strategies in Term 4. If you missed the opportunity to make an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers to discuss their progress.
Preparation for Year 12 exams
While most staff and students will be relaxing over the holidays, our Year 12 students will be busy completing tasks, or in the case of the scored VCE Year 12 students, revising their notes and preparing for their trial exams. These exams commence during the first week of Term 4. Students will be supervised by staff during these days and will be provided with valuable feedback. The final day of timetabled classes for Year 12 will be Monday October 20. Following that, there will be the annual celebration day events, including an excursion to Funfields, lunch and the final Year 12 Assembly.
College Events:
We have had an action packed end to Term 3 with numerous incursions and excursions, including to NGV, La Trobe University, Kangan TAFE, the Year 9 Melbourne Explorers City Experience and many others. For our P-6s, they enjoyed a BBQ to celebrate Footy Day and trip to Scienceworks. Please take the time to peruse the following pages which are full of our students embracing different learning opportunities.
One of the most exciting events we have had over the past few weeks has been our College Production of Shrek. Congratulations to all involved. It was a pleasure to watch our students from across the College singing and dancing their hearts out.
Thank you to the PFA for their hard work organising and running our Father’s Day Stall. We hope that all families enjoyed a special day celebrating the father figures in their life.
We also celebrated R U OK? DAY on Friday September 12. RUOK Day is a National day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life. We will raise awareness for R U OK? DAY at MRC through a variety of targeted activities. These include:
- staff and students being encouraged to wear yellow accessories to promote healthy and meaningful conversations about mental health and checking in on each other;
- recess and lunchtime activities;
- R U OK? Day merchandise and handouts;
R U OK Market Stalls, connecting our students with a range of services available to support our community.
By the time you read this, our students on the Japanese tour will be one week in to their Cultural Immersion Program. I am lucky enough to be one of the staff members attending this once in a lifetime opportunity with our students. We look forward to sharing all of our brilliant memories upon our return.
Following last week’s reminder, please don’t forget about the transition to Summer Uniform for Term 4.
I look forward to a refreshed return in Term 4. Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing and enjoyable term break. See you when classes resume on Monday October 6.
Enjoy your weekend.
Warm Regards,
Lainey Carr
