Book Week 2025 Parade 📖✨

Our Secondary Students and staff brought literature to life most spectacularly during our annual Book Week Dress-Up Parade. The event was just magnificent, showcasing the creativity and enthusiastic spirit that defines our school community.

From classic icons to modern characters, the school's oval became a vibrant storybook. The effort and imagination that went into the costumes were truly inspiring — many students incorporated handmade props, theatrical makeup, and fantastic coordinated group themes.

More than just a fun event, the parade reminded us of the joy of reading, the power of storytelling, and the magic that happens when we connect through books. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and helped organise such a memorable day.

Until next year — keep reading and keep imagining!

Year 9 Army Museum Excursion

Early in Term 3, the Year 9 History classes participated in a hands-on educational experience as they visited the Army Museum of South Australia.

During the Museum visit, students were not only able to explore artefacts belonging to different eras of Australian military history but also walk through WWI-recreated trenches, which enhanced their understanding of the experiences of those who sacrificed in their military service.

Moreover, students could also participate in two different sessions conducted by Army veterans. “Living in the Field” is a talk on uniforms, handling military equipment and ratios, and “WWI, a tour” is a guided tour on Australian involvement in WWI with a heavy focus on the Battle of Gallipoli. A highlight of this visit was the visitor pass given to students and teachers containing a short biography of an Australian soldier who participated in WWI and WWII, which inspired the students’ curiosity about their experiences.

Definitely a meaningful visit which deepened our respect for those men and women affected by war.

Year 12 Aboriginal Studies class visit to Iriwi Arts Studio

The Year 12 Aboriginal Studies class recently visited the Iwiri Arts Studio in Adelaide CBD. The Pitjantjatjara people from the APY Lands who live in Adelaide have started this art studio as a community hub and an economic enterprise.

Our students had a good opportunity to speak to the artists about their inspirations and the patterns they use in their work. It was a fantastic experience for our students to observe the artists while creating their Aboriginal artworks.

Sponsor a Student! Write a Book in a Day Competition

On Thursday of Week 8, 38 of our Year 7–10 students are taking on the challenge of Write a Book in a Day! In just one day, they’ll work together to plan, write, and illustrate an entire book—all while raising money for the Kids’ Cancer Project.

It’s a considerable effort and a wonderful cause, and we’d love your support! If you’d like to encourage our students, you can sponsor them by:

  1. Go to the Write a Book in a Day website and click 'Sponsor'.
  2. Searching Emmaus.
  3. Choosing a student from the list and making a donation.

  4. Every dollar goes towards vital childhood cancer research; every bit of encouragement means so much to our students as they take on this challenge.
  5. Thanks for cheering them on!
