Un-BEE-lievable Discoveries in Year 3/4
One of the highlights of Term 3 so far has been our Bee Incursion with a local beekeeper. Students were fascinated as they discovered the inner workings of a hive, explored the anatomy of bees, and learned about their vital role in our environment.
The excitement continued as students stepped into the role of an apiarist (beekeeper) through various hands-on activities. From honey tasting and hive inspections to trying on a beekeeper’s suit and experimenting with real hive tools, the experience was both fun and memorable!
This incursion has given students valuable knowledge to draw upon in our upcoming English unit on explanation writing, while also reinforcing their understanding of the life cycle of bees - a topic we explored earlier in the year. Hopefully, it has also sparked conversations at home about the importance of bees and how we can care for them and our environment.
Here are some reflections from our Year 3/4 students about the experience:
“My favourite thing from the bee incursion was seeing the live bees in a hive! I also enjoyed seeing a beehive with real wax inside it.” - Jesiah, Year 3
“I thought it was funny to see all the different places that bees make their hives, even in a toilet! I also learned that bees have five eyes!” - Katrina, Year 3
“My favourite thing about the bee incursion was trying the honey - but it was very sticky! I learned that bees can make a hive anywhere they want to.” - Hamish, Year 4
“My favourite thing about the bee incursion was seeing the live bees. I learned that there were 60,000 worker bees in a hive!” - Enoch, Year 4
“Today I learned that drone bees are very lazy and don’t do anything in the hive! I also tried honeycomb for the first time, and the wax was VERY chewy!” - Jonathan, Year 3
Overall, our students thought the bees were un-BEE-lievable, and it was an excellent experience for our year 3/4 cohort to share together.

Celebrating Father's Day at Brooklyn Park Campus
We enjoyed a wonderful morning celebrating Father’s Day with coffee and breakfast, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere at our school. Seeing our students delighted to spend quality time with their dads was heartening.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all our Junior School Parent Representatives, Volunteers and Staff for their invaluable support in organising this event. We also extend our thank you to the Year 5/6 D'Lima class for creating artwork displays for the tables adding a personal touch.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads who are our students' superheroes! 🦸😊
Admin and SSO Staff Appreciation Week
On Tuesday morning, our Brooklyn Park Campus teaching staff came together to celebrate the incredible contributions of our Admin and School Services Officer (SSO) team.
It was a wonderful opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude for the ongoing support provided by the admin and SSO staff members to our teachers, students, and their families each and every day. Their dedication and behind-the-scenes work are vital to the smooth running of our school community.
Brooklyn Park staff were delighted to receive thank-you cards from the teachers. It was lovely to see the students' beautiful handwritten messages, who expressed their appreciation to the admin and SSO staff in their own words.
We are blessed to have such a dedicated and caring support team at Brooklyn Park Campus. Thank you for all that you do!
