Cooking Club – From Garden to Plate
Last week in Cooking Club, the children enjoyed making fresh rice paper rolls — with some ingredients gathered straight from our very own garden!
The children were excited to explore the garden and discover that we had fresh coriander growing, which became one of the key ingredients for our rolls. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to use their senses, learn how to identify different herbs, and make a real connection between gardening and cooking.
Along with the coriander, we added cucumber, carrot, lettuce, and marinated tofu with soy sauce. The children loved preparing and rolling their own rice paper rolls, and of course, the best part was sitting together to enjoy their healthy and delicious creations.
This activity gave the children a chance to see how food can come directly from garden to plate — and they all agreed the rolls were so tasty that we’ll definitely make them again soon!
Important Notice – Xplor Home App Bookings
We are aware that the Xplor Home app has recently experienced some issues with the booking system. Some families have reported that when trying to make a casual booking, a message appeared saying that the room was “full.”
Please be assured that OSHC always has plenty of vacancies and families should always be able to make casual bookings.
If you experience this issue again, please:
Most importantly, please remember that OSHC always accepts casual bookings. If you require urgent care, you are welcome to walk your child in, and our amazing educators will assist you with signing them in on the spot.
Thank you for your patience as we work through this technical issue, and for your continued support.
Reminders:
To help keep all children safe and focused during their time at OSHC, we kindly remind families that personal devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and smartwatches with cameras are not permitted.
👉 Please note: This change is compulsory from 1 September, in line with the National Model Code and the new legislation 168 (2)(ha).
If a child brings a device, it will be safely stored and returned to their family at the end of the session. This forms part of our existing ICT, Television, and Mobile Policy, which is currently being updated to align with these new requirements around child safety and the use of personal electronic devices.
Here’s how we manage personal devices during OSHC:
We appreciate your support and cooperation in keeping OSHC a safe, respectful, and child-focused environment.
