Spring Magic Market

Market day this Saturday!

Our school’s biggest event of the year has finally arrived. Our Spring Magic Market (SMM) is this Saturday 13 September, from 2–8 pm. Make sure you follow us on social media and share with your friends and community to join us for an incredible day of entertainment, great food and family fun. Also, keep a listen out on Triple R radio for plugs of the SMM.

Everything you need to know is detailed below

  • Volunteer sign-up: Many hands make light work. If you haven’t signed up already (thanks to those that have) we still need your help. Evening shifts and set up/pack up Saturday evening and Sunday are hot spots! If your senior student is keen to volunteer, ensure they have signed up on the roster here The stall leads will be in touch closer to market day once the rosters have been finalised.

  • Free child-minding: The fabulous OSHC team will be offering this service for volunteers who need it during their shift. To book your child’s place, please fill in this registration form. Child-minding can only go ahead if there is enough demand to make it sustainable.

  • Pre-purchase wristbands for rides: Get your kids’ wristbands for unlimited market day rides now to save time and money. Concession for CSE- eligible students available. The inflatables and other rides are the most popular activities for kids at the market, and will run from 2–7pm. Pre-purchased wristbands are cheaper to buy and can be collected on the day.

  • Lemons for lemonade stall: Donations of lemons and empty passata jars (to hold the concentrate) are needed and can be left at the front porch for collection. If you would like to make a batch of lemonade concentrate at home, volunteers can contact Henry on 0401 317347 or henryclough@hotmail.com

  • Cake and treat stall goodies: Contributions for the ever-popular cake and treat stalls are welcome. Thank you in advance for helping to make these popular and enticing market stalls shine with your delicious donations.

The treat stall leads are also asking to borrow any cake stands people can lend on               the day, to help display all the yummy goodies.

  • Pre-loved clothes and book donations: Please continue to drop off your good quality books and clothes in clean bags or boxes by the east lobby next to Sprout. We especially need adult clothes, and to ensure items are fit for sale, please could we have clothes that are clean and in good condition – no stains or tears, no ultra cheap ‘fast fashion’ brands and no underwear. Reminder: There is no toy stall this year.

  • SMM auction website is now live: https://airauctioneer.com/2025-bnwps-auction

Glorious art and seriously tempting vouchers and donated goods are on offer. Bidding before market day is strongly encouraged. This year, we have introduced proxy bidding (also known as maximum bidding or eBay-style bidding), where you can submit the maximum amount you’re willing to pay, and the system makes automatic bids for you up to this level. Each time there is a bid, the price rises by the smallest amount possible to keep the bidder with the highest maximum in the lead. Happy bidding folks!

  • Family photography session: The wonderful Harriet (grade 6 parent) from Harriet Claire Photography will be offering 15-minute family photo sessions at the market. You will receive one high resolution image with all proceeds from the day going directly to school fundraising. Spots are limited: book your photography here

  • BNWPS handmade stall: If you or your children have been busy crafting away, now is the time to put on those finishing touches. You can drop off your handmade wares for donation to the office this week, or directly to the multipurpose room on market day. Plants welcome. Please retail price your items and ensure you add your name with a swing tag.

  • Musicians bring magic to the market

Live music is one of the highlights of the SMM. Our STELA Stage has plenty of opportunities for the kids to perform, bringing the musical vibes down to the Productive Garden. Our Main Stage has some great local dance performances and musicians. Follow our socials and share with your friends and family to show your support:

  • Community radio support: Our local community radio station Triple R has generously donated radio ads to help promote the SMM – so please return the favour by supporting them! Triple R’s Radiothon is on now. It’s the annual subscription and donation drive and an essential time of year to plant the seed and help them grow. Show your support by subscribing and donating at rrr.org.au, and help keep the independent, volunteer-driven, community radio station on the airwaves for another year.

Quick tips for parents

  • Bring lots of cash (some small change), we will have EFTPOS and card facilities but cash helps us get started.
  • The rides bring a whole lot of messy fun. Check the forecast and pack extra pairs of socks and spare clothes should you need. Zippered jackets and pants are advised.
  • Give your kids small amounts of cash so they check in with you repeatedly (when they want more $$).
  • Write your mobile number down on the kids activities wrist band with a sharpie. If they can't find you, the MC in the undercover area or someone at a stall can text you to let you know they are safe but looking for you.
  • Let your kids know where your volunteer shifts are, so they can come hassle you for $$.
  • There will be a designated signposted meeting point: when you get to school show the kids where it is.
  • If your child needs some quiet time, head for the Quiet Space behind the babysitting portable.
  • Book in for the child minding if you need.
  • Bring a drink bottle. There will also be some soft drinks and homemade lemonade.
  • Enjoy the huge range of food and drinks on offer.

Waste management

  • Help us reduce our environmental footprint on market day.
  • We will have clearly signed bins for different types of waste. Please check the signs carefully before you place something into a bin.
  • We are providing:- compostable packaging for your food orders wherever possible- food options that don’t require much cutlery - minimal plates, cutlery, napkins etc handed out - reusable glasses for drinks - three types of bins … organics, comingle recycling and landfill.

Containers: A note to please remember to pick up your containers after the market. Or come back on Sunday to pick them up.
