SWPBS Update

Sometimes, we expect students to know how to do the right things, and sometimes students need a bit of help understanding the positive behaviours we'd like to see in our Community.

As a School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) school, Heathmont College has a strong focus on explicitly teaching and acknowledging positive learning behaviours across the whole school so that everyone understands what is right and behaviour is not okay. Rather than create a punitive measure, SWPBS aims to reteach replacement behaviours; so students know what to do.

Our classrooms, outline a matrix displaying the way in which we act in different spaces. This preventative measure allows students to learn required behaviours, not just incur a consequence for breaking rules. Through this lens, we look to build relationships as well as build our core values, Community, Compassion and Curiosity.
