Principal's Report

As we head towards the end of Term 3, I’ve been reminded again how important connection and communication are in our school community.

It was fantastic to see so many families at our recent parent–teacher interviews. Those conversations, celebrating what’s going well and working together on the tricky bits, really do make a difference. If things ever feel tough, whether at school or at home, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re here to listen and to support.

This term we welcome Ms Rachel Weiss, our new Assistant Principal. Rachel brings great experience and a strong focus on student wellbeing and learning and steps into the role of Assistant Principal of Diversity and Equity. Rachel will be leading the further development and implementation of programs to support students throughout their time at the school and will also oversee the Middle School Student Management Team (Years 9 and 10). One of the first big projects that she will lead is a review of our school’s bullying policy and how we respond when issues arise. We want this to be shaped not just by staff, but by students and families too. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be asking for your input so that our approach reflects the values of our whole community.

For our Year 12 students, the pace is really picking up. They’re finalising assessments, preparing for exams, and starting to look ahead to what comes next. It’s a full-on time, and they’ll need plenty of encouragement and support from all of us as they navigate these last steps of their school journey. The end is quickly approaching but there are the final hurdles to navigate before they can fully celebrate the significant achievement of finishing high school. Our staff are on hand to support as we well understand that this is a time of stress for many students in their final months of schooling. As a parent of a Year 12 student myself, I am keenly aware of the impact that this time has on all aspects of student lives and the additional support that families are providing to their young people as well. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and it certainly requires one to get a young person through Year 12!

Looking ahead, Term 4 is always a busy and exciting time. We’ll celebrate our Year 12s as they graduate, enjoy end-of-year events and performances, and keep building towards a strong finish for all year levels. It’s a great reminder that while each term has its challenges, it also brings many moments of joy, achievement, and togetherness.

Thank you for the many ways you contribute to our community, by showing up, sharing your ideas, and working with us. It’s in these everyday moments that our school becomes a place where young people know they belong and are supported to thrive.
