Year 6 Religious Education Intervention and De La Salle Students

This week six Year 12 students from De La Salle College joined in a Religious Education lesson with our Year 6 students. These Year 12 students have just completed a course in  Studies in Catholic Thought. They still have a few lessons remaining before their Graduation and were keen to explore ways that this can be lived out in practical ways. Hence, they joined us in Year 6 and supported the teachers in the teaching of content in preparation for the Religious Education test which takes place early next term.

We are grateful for another opportunity whereby De La Salle College and OLF Primary are able to work together for student learning.

Congratulations to our First Communicants

Last weekend a number of students from the school and Parish received the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time. The Masses were a beautiful celebration of this very special time! To the first Holy Communicants…. Congratulations on the respectful and prayerful manner in which you celebrated the Eucharist!

The Sacrament of Confirmation

Next Tuesday - 2nd September - a meeting will be held in the Church at 7pm for those students who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this year.

If you have a child in Year 6 please take note of the Compass notification that was sent out yesterday - Thursday. It is essential that the candidate for Confirmation as well as their parent/guardian be present at this meeting.

Monsignor Kerry Bayada

Many of you will have heard that Monsignor Kerry passed away this week. He was known and loved by many in the Parish and has left a lasting legacy on the OLF community.

At the Assembly this morning we shared the following prayer for Monsignor……

In our Prayer this morning we remember Monsignor Kerry Bayada who was our Parish Priest here at Our Lady of Fatima for 30 years. He was highly respected, loved by many and made many significant contributions to our Caringbah Parish. He even organised the building of our beautiful Church.

The Blue - Bayada House colour was named after Monsignor Kerry Bayada and his motto was: IN UNITY and COMMITMENT.

We thank him for his committed involvement in our school  - he loved being a part of our school community.

Together we pray for Monsignor Bayada.

Loving God,

We thank you for the life of Monsignor Kerry Bayada who served you and helped so many people.

Thank you for his kindness, for the gentle way he spoke your word, for the joy he brought to the classrooms and liturgies, and  for the unwavering love he showed to every child, teacher, and family.

Give comfort to all who miss him and help us to never forget his love for this community.

Help us to carry forward his legacy, To be kind, to be prayerful, to be generous with our time and love. May his memory inspire us to live with faith and courage, And may we always feel his presence in the sacred spaces he helped to build.

We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
