ART
We have been very busy in the Art room lately...
Foundation - have been looking at the Artist Henri Matisse and using "scissors to paint."
As well as pop artist, Andy Worhol and his famous soup can artwork. We have worked on out cutting and gluing skills, while looking at the art elements shape, colour, line and space.
Grade 1/2 - have continued to look at colour, creating complementary coloured monsters that pop right out of the page. We learnt how to mount our work and even had a go at using the slicer to trim and frame our piece.
Grade 3/4 - have been looking at the art element value and created watercolour gems that look fantastic. We are beginning our next project where we will be making our own tints and shades.
Years 5/6 - have been working hard on their graffiti fences. We have just built and painted our fences. We will be using paint pens to draw our designs onto out fence and foam as the base to hold them upright. watch this space for the finished product soon.
MUSIC
This week some grades were introduced to Bush Band instruments. Students played lagerphones, tea-chest bass, spoons and washboards.
Our junior classes played xylophones and marimbas to accompany various songs.
Most classes have been learning some of our traditional Australian songs… Click go the shears, Waltzing Matilda and Botany Bay are just a few examples. These songs provide a fabulous opportunity to learn more about our Colonial heritage and of course are fun to accompany with ukuleles and Bush Band instruments too
