VCE VM

A snapshot of what we have done this term in VCE VM:

At Year 10 Vocational Minor, we categorised and dropped off the donated items to ‘Our Village’. The employers were highly appreciative of our college’s selfless act. Since this program, the Year 10VM class have decided their next target audience will be SJRC staff, hence, Barista Fri-YAY (see attached poster). To help staff navigate the next few weeks of Term 2, please watch for the MS Form to place your orders. Our Year 10 students will also commence their community service for the College.

At Year 11 VCE VM, to achieve competency in Unit 1 PDS, students have engaged in a practical and enjoyable task, leading the 3-on-3 basketball tournament during lunchtime. Students planned, created the promotional posters and facilitated the events. They have seen a great turnout of students, which has resulted in a successful outcome for this unit of study.

At Year 12 VCE VM, students have been busy working through Unit Three and are now beginning their final unit of study. In PDS, the students will focus on Food Waste and Sustainable Living, so stay tuned for their challenges throughout the rest of Term 2 and Term 3. This Community Project will have synergy with their other subjects. It is hoped that students gain some life skills that prepare them for life after graduating from St John’s.

In addition to this, the students participated in Try-a-Trade Day, where they visited booths featuring TAFES, apprenticeship opportunities, or general advertising from various industries. Students and staff particularly enjoyed the metal pressing station, walking away with a personalised key chain.
