Welcome!

A message from the Principal
National Sorry Day
Today, we observe National Sorry Day, a day to reflect on the impact of the Stolen Generations and to acknowledge the suffering caused by policies that led to their removal. It’s a time to recognise the pain of Indigenous Australians and commit to healing through recognition and understanding. As explained on the Songlines website, National Sorry Day is important because it allows us to publicly acknowledge the wrongs of the past, listen to the stories of those affected, and continue working towards reconciliation.
National Reconciliation Week (27th May – 3rd June)
National Reconciliation Week is a time to learn about and reflect on the importance of building relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. This year’s theme, "Be a Voice for Generations", encourages everyone to actively participate in making the world a more fair and just place for Indigenous peoples. It’s a week to celebrate the rich culture of Australia’s First Nations people and to keep moving forward together with understanding, respect, and healing.
Athletics Day Report
Last Friday, 23rd May, we held our Athletics Carnival. While the weather was a bit unpredictable, the rain held off between events, allowing all our students to participate and enjoy the day. The energy and enthusiasm from students were fantastic, and the event was filled with excitement and encouragement. A huge thank you to Mr. Jake Wilkinson for his excellent leadership of the event. We were also grateful for the support from Catherine McAuley College, who had several senior students join us to help run events for our Years 3-6 students. It was a wonderful day that showcased the true spirit of sportsmanship!
St Peter’s Feast Day Mass & Baptism
In the last two weeks of term, we will celebrate St Peter’s Feast Day and Baptism. The date for this event will be confirmed soon, but we are excited to invite all families to join us for a Mass at St Kilian’s Church, followed by a morning tea back at school.
Over the last five years, several students have chosen to celebrate their baptism during this special event. We would like to extend the invitation again to any families who are interested in having their child baptised during the Mass. If you would like to know more, please contact Mr. Wilkinson for further information. We look forward to celebrating this meaningful occasion with our school community!
Upcoming Closure Day
A reminder that Tuesday, 17th June will be a school closure day for professional development as part of Sandhurst Magnify. Recently, our staff focused on the Science of Learning, and the next area of focus will be Knowledge Society, including a classroom master class. Please mark this date on your calendars. This closure day follows the King’s Birthday long weekend on Monday, 9th June.
Prayer for Reconciliation Week
Loving God,
We thank You for the opportunity to come together during Reconciliation Week.
Help us to listen with open hearts and minds to the stories of Indigenous Australians.
Guide us to be voices of understanding, compassion, and unity.
May we work towards a future where all people are treated with respect and dignity.
Bless our efforts for reconciliation and healing,
And may we always seek to build bridges of peace and harmony.
Amen.
God Bless,
Jeremy Darmody
