What's happening in Year 3/4 space?
Dear Families,
Over the past fortnight, our Year 3/4 students have been thoroughly enjoying diving deeper into our class novel, Yirra and her Deadly Dog, Demon. This story has sparked some wonderful discussions in the classroom, as students explore the themes of friendship, responsibility, and culture through the eyes of Yirra and her 'deadly dog'.
In connection with our novel study, we’ve also been learning about the history of Aboriginal land rights. This important topic has helped students build a deeper understanding of Australia’s past and the ongoing journey toward justice and recognition for First Nations peoples. These lessons are leading into our preparations for Reconciliation Week, where we’ll come together as a school community to reflect, learn, and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. We look forward to gathering next Friday, 30th May, to mark this important occasion with the Year 3/4s leading the prayer. You are most welcome to join us from 2:45pm to see what we've got planned!
In Maths, we’ve just wrapped up our unit on fractions. Learners have been busy finding equivalent fractions, as well as comparing and ordering them. It’s been great to see their confidence grow as they’ve explored different strategies to understand parts of a whole in a variety of contexts.
This term Jacqui and Ebony will be job sharing the Grade 3/4 space. Our days are as follows.
