Updates from Miss Maree

Dear Families,

It was so lovely to be back at work this past week after having some time off for eye surgery. A huge thank you must go out to all the staff who stepped up in my absence and kept the school running. We are so luck to have the most amazing staff. My eye is recovering well however I do have to have surgery on my other eye so will out of action again in a few weeks time.

Welcome to New Families

We welcome a number of new students and families to our school community - welcome Kason in Foundation and his mum Sarah and younger sister Khaleesi and also starting soon will be Lexi (Foundation), Zoe (Year Two) and their parents Poulo and Johanna. We hope you are made to feel very welcomed.

Open Day

On Tuesday 27th May we will be holding an Open Day to showcase our school to our broader community, for them to come and see all of the wonderful things we do here. We have been busy these past few weeks already showing prospective families around our school, who are interested in what we do here at St Joseph's. If you know of anyone who may be interested in a private tour, please don't hesitate to see Sarah in the main office who can organise this.

Pupil Free Days and Public Holiday

Over then next coming weeks there are a number of pupil free days where staff will be gathering with other schools from the area to participate in Professional Learning around new initiatives that Catholic Education Sandhurst are putting in place. The dates are Friday 6th June and Tuesday 17th June. Please contact Uniting OSHC if you require care for your child for those days. Monday 9th June is a public holiday.

5/6 Camp to Sovereign Hill

This week our 5/6 students will be participating in a 3 day camp to Sovereign Hill along with students from St Mary's Rushworth and Holy Rosary Heathcote. Many schools have stopped camps as part of their program due to the huge expense. Although we charge a fee for camps and excursions as part of school fees, it does not come close to covering the costs (of which the school picks up the rest of the costing). This particular camp cost approximately $600 per child for the 3 days. We may need to get creative as to what camps look like, how many days they are and what parents pay. A huge thank you to Shan and Gen who will be attending the camp.

F-4 Excursion to Shepparton

All students from F-4 will be on excursion this Thursday. They will be visiting St Luke's Shepparton for a theatre performance and then travelling to Shepparton Art Museum to view an exhibition orgsnised by the staff. The bus will be leaving promptly at 8am so please don't be late. Unfortunately we cannot wait as the performance begins promptly at 9am.

Cross Country

Congratulation to all the students who recently participated at the Cross Country at Murchison. Under very chilly conditions everyone did their best and are to be congratulated on their efforts. Sebastian excelled and finished first in his age group and Hunter placed third. Both boys will now compete at the next level in a few weeks. We wish them all the very best.

Sacramental Program

At St Joseph’s, we offer the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and the Sacrament of First Holy Communion to any Year 3 (or older) students. If you are interested in your child/ren receiving any of these Sacraments throughout 2025, could you please contact the office on 5794 2608 or email details to office@sjnagambie.catholic.edu.au.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 28th May, at 3:30pm at St Joseph’s School.

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Take care,

Maree
