Catholic Identity

Bendigo Winter Night Shelter
Each fortnight during winter our Catholic Identity Student Leadership team are preparing meals for the guests at the Bendigo Winter Night Shelter.
The Bendigo Winter Night Shelter provides warm meals and accommodation for people experiencing homelessness over winter. It is supported by a range of local Churches, community groups and businesses.
This is just one way our school supports those in need in our school community.
Vinnies Winter Appeal - June 24th
To support the local St Vincent de Paul Society Chapter, we are participating in the Vinnies Winter Appeal with a Winter Casual Clothes day for a gold coin donation on the 24th of June.
This will also be paired with a Winter Clothes Drive to donate to Vinnies.
To help raise awareness of the work of Vinnies and the experience of those who are sleeping rough in our community the students will participate in a solidarity activity where they will go without heating for the first hour of the school day. This activity will be accompanied by classroom discussion and prayer.
Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass
All are invited to join our whole school Mass to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart. At this mass we pray for the vulnerable in our community and reflect on the work of St. Vincent de Paul Society following our Vinnies Winter Appeal Fundraiser.
Mass will be held in the Church at 12:40 pm on Friday the 27th of June.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to all of our students who over the past two weekends celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion.
This is a special step in their spiritual lives, and we pray that it be a source of strength in their faith and love of God.

Sunday Gospel - John 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples:
"I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason, I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
Reflection
This Sunday was Holy Trinity Sunday, a day in the Catholic Church where we celebrate the nature of God as three persons, one God. This is an understanding of God shared by all Christians. Our God is one God who exists in relationship with us as three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three 'persons' are co-equal, sharing the same nature and attributes, all equally worthy of praise and worship.
The Trinity is united by love.
We know from our scriptures that God is love. Our one, triune God, is united by love.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that humankind was created by God, 'out of love and for love.'
The Trinity provides for us a lesson in relationships and love. God calls us to live as people united by love, united together, and united with God.
