1W Prayer Celebration - Friday 6 June, 9:30am at Sacred Heart Church.
Last week, Holy Trinity School celebrated Catholic Schools Week 2025, a special time to pause, give thanks, and celebrate what makes our Catholic school community so vibrant and unique. This year’s theme, Pilgrims of Hope, reminded us that we are all on a journey of faith, walking together with purpose, joy, and trust in God's promises.
We began the week with a whole school prayer at the Bell Tower, where students and staff gathered to reflect on the blessings of Catholic education. Mrs Rainger reminded the staff and students that the Bell Tower was one of the first things built when Holy Trinity School was established in 1963.
The CSW Mass in Armidale, where student leaders from across the diocese came together in prayer. We were proud to have Sasha, one of our School Captains, represent Holy Trinity by reading with confidence and reverence during the Mass. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to feel connected to the wider Catholic school community.
On Thursday, the joy of learning and connection came to life during our Buddy Reading session. Older students paired up with younger ones to share stories, laughter, and encouragement. It was a heartwarming reminder of how faith, learning, and friendship are woven together in our daily school life here at HTS.
Catholic Schools Week was a meaningful reminder that we are stronger together - as a school, a parish, and a faith-filled community - walking forward as Pilgrims of Hope.
Students in 1M have been learning about the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. The Fruits of the Holy Spirit are the good things that grow in our hearts when we let the Holy Spirit guide us.
There are 9 Fruits of the Holy Spirit:
- Love
- Joy
- Peace
- Patience
- Kindness
- Goodness
- Faithfulness
- Gentleness
- Self-control
We can say these are signs that the Holy Spirit is helping us to live like Jesus.
When the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost, it gave the disciples the strength to do good things: to be loving, kind, patient and brave. That same Holy Spirit is with us too. When we let the Holy Spirit work in us, we grow the Fruits of the Spirit, just like the Apostles did after Pentecost.
Next Thursday, 12 June at 9:15am, our school community will celebrate the patronal feast of the school, the Holy Trinity.
The Trinity is more than a symbol or a puzzle to solve, it's a living relationship of perfect love. The Father loves the Son, the Son returns that love, and the Holy Spirit is the love between them, overflowing, never-ending, and always reaching out to us.
The Trinity shows us that God is not alone. God is community. God is love. And we are made in that image: called to live together in unity, to care for each other, and to share life fully, just as God shares life within the Trinity.
This message is at the heart of our school’s motto, taken from the words of Jesus in John 10:10: "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." Life in its fullness means more than success or comfort. It means living in loving relationship with God, with each other, and with the world around us. Family and friends of Holy Trinity are welcome to attend the Mass.
Over the coming weeks, 22 students are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which will be celebrated by our new Bishop, Bishop Peter Murphy, on Saturday 21 June at 5:30pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
As part of their preparation, the students will take part in a Retreat Day on Friday 20 June, where they will reflect on the importance of the Sacrament, explore the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and become familiar with the structure of the Confirmation Mass.
Confirmation is the third Sacrament of Initiation, a significant milestone where the confirmandi will renew their baptismal promises and be sealed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.
We keep these students in our prayers as they prepare to receive this important sacrament, asking the Holy Spirit to guide, inspire, and strengthen them on their faith journey.
Please return any notes and money to school ASAP.
We are blessed to have several members of our staff and members of the school community participating in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program as they prepare to enter the Catholic Church. This journey is a sacred time of faith, discovery, and transformation - a beautiful unfolding of God’s love in their lives.
As a community, we hold them close in prayer during this important process. May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen them each step of the way. We pray their faith deepens, their hope grows, and their hearts are opened wide to receive God’s abundant blessings.
Prayer for Our RCIA Candidates
Loving God,
You call each of us by name and invite us into your family.
Bless our colleagues on their journey to becoming Your followers in the Catholic faith.
Fill them with wisdom, courage, and peace.
Surround them with your grace, and help them grow in faith and love.
May their hearts be forever embedded in You,
and may their journey inspire all of us to seek You more deeply.
Amen.
"Faith does not make things easy, it makes them possible."
— Pope John Paul II
