Karoo Joins National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday 21st May, Karoo proudly took part in the National Simultaneous Storytime, a beloved event where students across Australia come together to enjoy the same book at the same time.  Karoo was one of 2,204,658 participants around Australia and New Zealand!

This year’s featured story was The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel — a heart-warming tale about Tinka, a curious cat who lives and travels in a truck with his human companion, Yacoub. As they journey together, the story gently explores important themes like kindness, compassion, belonging, and introduces ideas around immigration and connection in a way that’s both thoughtful and child-friendly.

Our lunchtime clubs were buzzing with themed activities! Students followed truck-themed road maps, crafted their own origami cats, and enjoyed plenty of Truck Cat colouring fun.

Beautifully illustrated by Danny Snell, The Truck Cat captivated readers with its rich visuals and touching story.

We have enjoyed having Tinka come to visit. It was a truly memorable day celebrating the joy of reading and storytelling together.

Did you forget to return books?

Library open Wednesday Mornings for Returns

Forgot to return your book on library day or received an overdue notice?  No problem!

The library will now be open every Wednesday before school for students to return any overdue books.  Of course, you can still return books on your regular library day—this just gives you another chance in case you forget!

Lost and Found Book Marks

Have you accidentally left a bookmark in a book you returned? We’ve found quite a few bookmarks tucked inside returned books, and they’re waiting to be reunited with their owners!

Pop by and see me—your lost bookmark might just be here, ready to go home!

Lunch Clubs

Lunch clubs are very popular, especially when Archie is here on Monday, with visiting times at 12:00pm and 2:20pm.   This week has had, along with the usual colouring and book reading, colouring and word searches to celebrate Truck Cat!
