Some words from the Principal

Dear Karoo PS Community, 

What an exciting fortnight to be at Karoo PS! Thank you so much to the families that were able to come and visit our school during Education Week Open afternoon this week on Wednesday.  It was lovely to walk around and see our students proudly showing their parents their classrooms, mathematics reflection journals and their mathematics work that they are proud of.  

Education Support Day 16th May 

On Friday 16th May we celebrated the hard work and achievements of our fabulous Education Support (ES) team. Our ES team are the backbone of the school and are made up of administration, integration, wellbeing, OSHC and in class support staff. Their wide ranging abilities and skills help to ensure that our school can function so productively and positively. We are extremely grateful for their dedication to everything they all do and how much they support and contribute to the success of Karoo PS. If you see an ES staff member around, don't ever hesitate to say thank you!

Meet the Principal Afternoon Tea

Thank you to the parents that came to the 'Meet the Principal' afternoon tea.  It was wonderful to see familiar faces and take time to discuss key areas and new ideas to enhance our school further.  The delicious afternoon tea provided by our Canteen coordinator, Di, was also a hit!

2026 Foundation Discovery Night

What a success! Our 2026 Foundation Discovery Night was a buzz with excitement as our future 2026 foundation families had the opportunity to explore what Karoo PS has to offer!

Thank you to you fantastic Foundation team, Specialist team, Admin Team and Leadership team for all their support to make the night such a fun experience for our future Karoo PS students!

Foundation Enrolments for 2026 OPEN! 

We have been proudly showcasing our sensational school to prospective families since early March through our weekly tours. Our School Captains also attend the tours and they are outstanding representatives for our school.  We tour on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and have a few more Saturday tours scheduled. If you know any families who have kindergarten aged children, please encourage them to book in for a tour at Karoo.   Out of zone applications will be accepted and the outcome determined by a range of factors, including 'in zone' enrolment numbers. 

The Foundation enrolments officially commenced on Tuesday 22nd April 2025 and are online again this year.  Applications are to be submitted by Friday 25th July 2025 with notifications of the outcome of the enrolment application to be announced between 28th July - 8th August. Formal transition sessions for Foundation 2025 commence early Term 4, from 7th October.

Staffing Updates 

It is with heartfelt congratulations I share that Ashley Kuusela has been successful at obtaining the position of Assistant Principal at Clyde Creek North PS.  We all wish her every success in her next adventure. I know that our school community have all enjoyed working with Ashley during her time at KPS and our students and staff have benefited immensely from her knowledge and expertise.  Ashley will continue to work at KPS over the next few weeks, before transitioning into her new role.  Peta Phillips will continue the planned handover process, as she steps into the full time Teaching and Learning Assistant Principal role. 

Ashley Kuusela will be attending our whole school assembly on Friday the 30th of May, so that our school community has the opportunity to say thank you and congratulations!

Curriculum Day

A reminder that our Curriculum Day for Term 2 is Friday 6th June. There will be no school for students on this day. OSHC will be available for those who have booked in.
