LOTE (Mandarin)

Dear Families,

Over the past two weeks in Mandarin, students have continued exploring the world of "number magic"! We've been learning to count in Mandarin through songs and games that support pronunciation and tone recognition.

A big highlight was the counting song "Tiger Hunt" (打老虎). Students had fun using actions, rhythm, and Mandarin numbers while singing and performing the song. To show their understanding, they created drawings based on the story in the song, demonstrating their creativity and comprehension in a visual way.

We also started learning the Days of the Week (星期一到星期天) using catchy songs and colourful visuals. Students are becoming more confident using simple Mandarin phrases and recognising tone differences.

Try It at Home – Mandarin Fun!

Want to support your child’s Mandarin learning at home? Try these easy ideas:

• 🎵 Sing the "Tiger Hunt" song together – Ask your child to teach you the actions and Mandarin numbers (like yī, èr, sān).
• 📆 Practise the Days of the Week – Say the days in Mandarin together at breakfast (e.g., “Today is 星期三 – xīng qī sān – Wednesday!”).
• 🔄 Number practice – Count everyday objects in Mandarin (e.g., apples, steps, toys). Try counting from 1–10 together.

Just a few minutes of fun practice at home can help build confidence and reinforce classroom learning!
