Specialist Classes

Performing Arts - Senior

Grades 3&4 - Dance

All grades have been doing a wonderful job learning new dance moves every week to add to their class dance routine. I have been very impressed with the effort and enthusiasm shown by many students, all while learning new choreography and sometimes difficult movements along the way.

We are very close to finishing both sets of dances in middle school and will find a suitable time to showcase both performances. As always, we will be hoping for the Melbourne weather to be kind to us so we are able to do this!

Grades 5&6 - Dance

All senior classes are also doing an exceptional job at learning the choreography to their respective dances. I really must commend all for trying their best and it’s been wonderful to see some students break out of their comfort zone by trying all the dance moves.

We are very close to also finalizing both senior dances and when the weather suits, I will find a time to have both dances performed on stage!

Dance Club

The four Performing Arts captains have been doing an incredible job at running Dance Club on Thursday’s. The two dances are really taking shape and the Grade 3 and 4 girls seem to be really enjoying the song choices and choreography the captains have created. Thank you to my hard working captains who give up their lunchtimes to teach the students, all while showcasing their fantastic leadership skills.

Have a lovely week,

Chrissy Jedrys

Foundation:

This week, Foundation students learned a short Hip Hop sequence. The music started and the students all wiggled and jiggled! It was super fun learning the moves, even though some were a bit tricky. We are so proud of everyone’s efforts and most importantly we all had lots of fun. I can't wait to enjoy learning more dances together!

Level 1:

The Level 1 hip hop routine presented a manageable challenge, allowing us to refine our technique while still having fun. We focused on rhythm and precision, improving our synchronisation during practice.  The mini performance at the end of our session showcased our progress; while there were moments of individual variation, the overall execution was fantastic. A highlight was watching

Level 2:

This hip hop piece demanded a high degree of rhythmic complexity and dynamic range.  We explored advanced techniques like isolations and more intricate footwork, requiring significant focus, stamina and precision. Everyone loved observing themselves and their peer’s performance on video at the end of the session. I am so proud of everyone’s efforts.

Visual Art - Senior

This week in the art room we began our textiles projects. The year 5/6 students have planned and prepared a small soft toy to sew. There is a lot of patience and resilience being shown by all students as we navigate threading needles, pinning fabric and stitching. It’s been a lot of fun so far.

Visual Arts - Junior

This week’s wonderful gallery of artwork for you to enjoy!

Also, just a reminder from Ms. Canny and the Art captains…

Thank you to all ENPS students and staff for  joining in the 25th Anniversary of National Simultaneous Storytime last Wednesday!

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual event hosted by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). It involves the simultaneous reading of a chosen Australian picture book in libraries, schools, pre-schools, and other locations across Australia. The event aims to promote reading, literacy, and the value of children's literature.

This year’s text, ‘The Truck Cat’ was a wonderfully heartwarming book which was engaging for all ages. See the publisher’s synopsis below.

The Truck Cat is a story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found. With illustrations by multi-award-winning artist Danny Snell and words by award-winning new voice Deborah Frenkel, The Truck Cat is the perfect book to inspire kindness and compassion in young children everywhere.
